AIDA Asian Freediving Cup 2026: Judges and assistants

A strong and experienced judging team is an essential part of every successful freediving competition. The AIDA Asian Freediving Cup 2026 brings together judges, instructors, organizers, and athletes from across Asia and beyond, combining years of international competition experience with deep involvement in the growth of freediving throughout the region.

From world championship juries to local competitions, the team brings a wide range of knowledge and experience to the event. Together, they help ensure professional standards, fair decisions, and a safe environment for all athletes.

Jury of AIDA Asian Freediving Cup 2026

Head Judge: Jean-Pol Francois  

Jean-Pol Francois is one of the pioneers of freediving in Asia and has spent many years helping develop both AIDA judges and instructors.

Over the years, he has served at multiple AIDA World Championships as both Jury Member and Head of Jury, bringing extensive international experience and leadership to the competition platform.

Yanzi Yuan

Co-organizer of AIDA Asian Freediving Cup and one of the owners at SUPERHOME. Yanzi Yuan from China is an AIDA Depth Level A Judge and AIDA Instructor Trainer.

She has judged for nine years, participated in five AIDA World Championships, and twice served as Vice President of the Jury. 

John Folkvord

Co-organizer of AIDA Asian Freediving Cup. Originally from Norway and based in the Philippines since 2013, John has been judging since  2015 and has since then been one of the most active depth  judges in AIDA.

He has served on the jury at the last three AIDA Depth World Championships, including once as Vice President of the Jury. He is an AIDA Instructor trainer, and also a level B judge in both depth and pool.

Carmelo Franco Jr. Navarro

Carlo has been an AIDA judge since 2015 and an AIDA Instructor Trainer for more than a decade. Based in Manila and Mabini, he is one of the early Filipino freediving instructors and has become increasingly active in both pool and depth competitions in recent years.

Outside the sport, he enjoys spearfishing and working with electronics, and has been part of the AIDA Asian Freediving Cup team since 2023. 

Jerwin Cuason

Jerwin Cuason entered freediving in 2017. Based in Mabini, he is an AIDA Instructor, AIDA Judge, and EQ Instructor who regularly trains and dives in one of the Philippines’ most active freediving communities.

Jerwin has been part of the AIDA Asian Freediving Cup team since 2023.

Assistant Judges

Analia Lee

Analia Lee has been actively involved in the freediving community through teaching, events, and athlete support.

Passionate about creating welcoming experiences for divers, she enjoys helping athletes develop safely and confidently while contributing to the continued growth of the sport and its international community.

Daniel Cameron Becker

Originally from South Africa and now based in Siquijor, Philippines, Daniel Cameron Becker is an AIDA Master Instructor, Judge, Safety, and Organizer with years of international coaching and judging experience.

He currently runs a freediving school in eastern Siquijor and remains active in both athlete development and competition support.

Allan Vitor Jr.

Allan Vitor Jr. has spent years organizing and supporting freediving competitions in Mabini, helping strengthen the local freediving community and its growing international recognition.

Through these events, he has worked closely with athletes, organizers, judges, and safety teams from across Asia.

Ernie Wong

Ernie Wong from Singapore is new to judging but brings valuable experience from competing in more than 20 freediving competitions as an athlete.

As a strong SuperHOME regular, he adds strong competition experience and athlete perspective to the judging team.
