The first half of the athletes were assigned on first-to-register basis on the 8th. These spots were taken in less than 20 seconds after we opened registration on the 8th of December. Then on the 9th we picked the second half of divers at random using Random.org/lists.

We put everyone that had registered until 2pm in a list, fed it to the list randomizer, and got a random list of all signed up athletes. After that we started from the top and assigned spots according to how divers were randomly ranked. For the divers from China we reached the competition country limit (total 30 divers from one country, 15 men/15 women) and had to skip some athletes and fill with international divers instead.

Everyone should have received at least one email now, either with a confirmation that they can join, or with information about where they are in the waiting list.

Please let us know as early as possible if you got a spot, but decide not to use it. This is so we can fill the spot with another athlete, and also so that the new athlete gets as long time as possible to prepare.

Next: Payment deadline 21st of January

Next up is the payment deadline on the  21st of January. After paying, please email the receipt to the AIDA Asian Freediving Cup email. If someone hasn’t paid until the 21st we will give the spot to the next person in the waiting list. 

Waiting lists

We’re currently operating with four waiting lists: International men and women, and Chinese men and women. 

As of 9th of December there were 34 people in the waiting lists, distributed as follows:

• International men: 14
• International women: 5
• Chinese men: 10
• Chinese women: 5
